Most companies and organizations have people of a varied nature as their employees. However, this does not serve as an excuse for some crude characters you will come across at your workplace. From the perfectionist who will critique your daily dress code to the ones who will not let your efforts be. My research and observations tells me of these 6 types of people you will find at your workplace.
The Boss Pet. You will always find that one employee who wants to please the boss by ensuring the boss hates on every other employee in that office. Some time back I used to think all bosses have the opposite sex for their pet, until I got myself in a workplace and realized otherwise. This employee will work out their energies to see that every single unlikely statements other employees make gets into the boss’ ears. They will talk ill of the boss in the presence of other employees, with an aim of “grabbing” comments that they will eventually use against you. Be ye warned, flee from such unprofessional beings.
Group thinkers. These ones are also called spineless employees. They are the kind that can never make decisions on their own, even as basic decisions as when to get in and out of office. They will always pose questions to other employees with an aim of getting their opinions. Some are bold enough to do straight questions over issues that should never be heard of in a discussion. Making note of such people is so easy; you will always spot them seated in groups doing the same thing they have been doing since you first met them. They are also the kind that make silly statements in meetings and hate on any new employee whom they think is getting in their way. Keep off! They will kill your vision.
The scared lot. These are the type who are always afraid of everything and everyone that comes across them. They are the kind that never take responsibility of their actions but will find other shoulders to bear their burdens. Also called the fearful ones, they are always afraid of making mistakes and getting themselves out of problems. They will try as hard to act the perfect guys and blame other team members for the fall of every project. However, they are never afraid of success. They will be at the fore front celebrating achievements despite the long distances they gave these very projects. Allow them not to frustrate your efforts; downfalls or not go for your goals.
The busy-bodies. Years back only the F gender was known for gossiping, but with the shift towards equality their male counterparts blend so perfectly into the gossip community. There are these people in your workplace who seem to be knowing about everyone and everything. They go as far as telling you where so and so shops, where they slept last evening and surprisingly enough what they plan on doing in 5 years time. These very people will then talk about you and the many men and women they think are going out with you. They will also tell people why you behave the way you do and probably when you are likely to be fired. If you can’t identify them, you are probably the one.
The self sufficient. These are probably the kind of people that do irritate everyone that comes their way. They will lock themselves up in their offices and never notice a noisy fire parade next to their windows. They perfectly know how to mind their business even when the company requires them to mind other people’s businesses. They will constantly ignore everybody that comes their way without caring what they want from them. They think they are the best that can ever be; try leaving them alone. When they need you they will look for you.
The distressed also-ran. Finally. There are these people who will always think they are better than everyone else in that office. Once another person succeeds in a project or something, they will be out to say how such and such is favored, how the managers are either their fathers, mothers or even going out with them. At no point will they ever give credit to your success and to them nothing is earned the good way or through hard work. At times they go as far as suspending the projects you have tirelessly worked on. Be warned, you can never stop the distressed also-rans from thinking the way they do; all you can do is work harder and be more successful so they can have more to be talking and thinking about.
Where do you fall?
