I haven’t read the Miguna’s book fully, in as much as it might have been of great interest to the country. However, I was one of the very first people to acquire this book, not with an intention of knowing what it entailed, but just to satisfy my own self with the thought that I at least have it, without even knowing what it’s all about. While in the mix in matatus, pathways, and most especially social media where the talk is on Miguna this and Miguna that, I too have something to say, having noted this in the famous PEELING BACK THE MASK “In Peeling Back the Mask, I expose him as a selfish, confused, hypocritical and deceptive leader whose greed for power and money makes him unfit for the presidency of the republic of Kenya. The book contains details of Odinga’s transgressions: from serial illicit sexual exploits with various married women to involvements in corruption; from his befuddled and inconsistent positions on the constitutional review and the International Criminal Court (ICC) process to his failure to negotiate effectively with President Kibaki, his partner in Kenya’s grand coalition government; through to his disgraceful dozing through important meetings. The book depicts a cowardly and intellectually dishonest leader undeserving of all the praise and attention he has generated or received over the years.” I am not a politician per se, but I do read politics and, at least have something to say and comment. Not to pop my nose into issues that should be concerning me less, but to speak on what concerns my life. If I could once again quote the Malcolm ideologies that Miguna believes in, “I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I’m a human being first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole” I am for acquiring the book because Miguna thought so when he wrote it, I am for not reading it since it has little benefit for humanity, and I choose to critique this since am a human being subject to my own ideologies. Am not writing this to critique Miguna as an individual, but the acts of Miguna and what I think of the book as being. The timing and motives behind which he wrote and released the book remain questionable to me. If he has any bit of interest in humanity as he claims, I doubt if he could be “coming babies” half a decade later to tell of the tales that affect humanity he has so passionately hidden for this long. Then I sit back and ask myself, if Miguna could have kept his position as the PM”s advisor, could Peeling Back the Mask be? If there was never a post election violence that seems the main feature in the Miguna article, could this all spoken of book be? I have thought of these questions but lacked answers, I wonder if a scan or skin through the book will give me answers, I may not be the only person asking this, and once again for the sake of humanity, I will read the book and get these answers.
